recrimination, accusation

recrimination, accusation
This is a pair of "cause and effect" words. An accusation is a charge of wrongdoing, the act of asserting that someone is guilty: "The prosecuting attorney has decided upon an accusation of murder." A recrimination is a countercharge, an accusation in return: "If you libel this man, you can expect recrimination."
